An exquisite gilt-decorated cabinet plate from the atelier of James Giles. Beautifully executed in clear glass with richly detailed hand-applied gold decoration, the centre features an elegant, exotic long tailed bird amidst delicate foliage and trees. The wide border is adorned with finely painted floral sprays and trailing botanical garlands in luminous gold, all enclosed within a delicate gilt rim. The base strikingly cut with star burst motif that radiates brilliantly beneath the surface.
